How the celebrity lookalike finder works

Follow the photo from your browser to a temporary face comparison and back to five ranked celebrity matches.

This is a free entertainment tool. It compares one face with a curated, licensed reference library and returns five people with the nearest model features. It does not identify who you are or generate a new image of you.

1. You choose a photo locally

The browser checks the format and size, rotates the photo if needed, and prepares a smaller JPEG. You see a local preview. Choosing the file alone does not send it to the matching service.

2. You ask for a match

Pressing the match button sends the compressed photo over HTTPS to the website. The website forwards it to a private face-comparison service. The comparison runs on our hosting infrastructure, not entirely on your device and not through ChatGPT.

The service may need to wake after an idle period. Network or service limits can prevent a request from completing; the page shows a message when that happens.

3. The service checks and aligns one face

OpenCV YuNet detects a face and facial landmarks. Detection examines suitable image scales so that tightly framed portraits can be handled. Requests with no detected face, multiple faces, or insufficient face detail are rejected. Alignment puts the face in a consistent position before comparison; it does not retouch your photo.

4. Facial features are compared with the library

OpenCV SFace turns the aligned face into a normalized numerical feature vector. A vector is a list of numbers used for comparison, not a text description of your appearance.

The service compares that vector with one representative vector per celebrity. Where multiple licensed reference photos are available, their normalized vectors are combined into a normalized mean prototype. Each person can therefore appear only once in the top five. The browsable library lists the currently included people and reference sources.

5. You receive five ranked matches

The response contains celebrity names, portrait paths, credits, and similarity scores. A match score is cosine similarity multiplied by 100. It is not a calibrated probability and should not be read as “you look 80% like this person.”

A nearest match is relative to the available library. If none of its people is a strong resemblance, one of them will still be mathematically nearest. The interface flags weak results rather than treating every top-ranked result as a strong lookalike. See how we evaluate results.

The tool does not estimate age, gender, ethnicity, health, personality, or attractiveness. It does not tell you which individual facial feature caused a match.

6. You can save a share card

Your browser combines your preview and the highest-ranked portrait into a downloadable PNG with attribution. Card generation happens in the browser; you choose whether to save or share the downloaded file. The site never posts it automatically.

What is kept

Uploaded photo buffers, decoded pixels, and temporary user features are processed in memory, without application photo storage or training reuse. The celebrity reference library is stored separately. Small service and optional usage counts do not contain photo content or face vectors. Read the privacy policy for retention, source attribution, and your choices.
